...and yes, I saw the muthaf***in' movie last night.

Speaking of planes...

I would be remiss as a blogger if I didn't mention that I did indeed shell out the bucks to see Snakes on a Plane last night. Saw it with friends, after drinks, and it was the best audience participation since Rocky Horror in 1985. Many people (including us) brought along rubber snakes to hurl at appropriate moments. Rael was wearing his SoaP t-shirt. We gasped, we screamed, we laughed. Sure, the movie sucked, that's beside the point, isn't it? Schwern sums it up.

Bono still reigns

Just saw U2 at the Rose Garden last night. Wow. That band has all the passion they had when I saw them twenty years ago (at the SF Civic Auditorium, for 'The Unforgettable Fire' tour). Bono's voice is as supple and versatile as it has always been, but his years of activism make U2's songs more powerful than ever.

It felt so good to go to a rock concert, to scream and dance like a teenager, to let the music carry me away, to feel my ears ringing during the drive home.

And her house still looks good

Have you seen "The Upside of Anger" with Joan Allen and Kevin Costner? Allen plays a raving alcoholic of a mother to four girls (teen to college-age adult). We see her wallowing in bitterness toward her absent spouse, who supposedly ran off to Sweden with the secretary. We see her drinking vodka at all hours of the day. We see her spewing venom at anyone who dares to come near. And yet, a) she looks flawless the entire time (hair, makeup, clothes, all lovely) and b) her house looks flawless the entire time (fresh flowers in the vases, kitchen is clean).

C'mon, you movie people! A little chaos please! A little 'rough around the edges' for the common folk! I drink two glasses of wine a month, and I can barely keep the laundry folded.

I know it's just a movie, but still.

Speaking of movie house envy, one of my favorites was Diane Keaton's in "As Good As It Gets." That writing desk next to the window with that view....Keanu Reeves is cute and all, but that desk, now there's something to salivate over.

The Boohbah tube

Sick kids = Lots of TV. (Hence all the recent TV-related posts.) Today we watched Boohbah on PBS Kids.

I remember the first time I watched Teletubbies with Luke. I was horrified and fascinated at the same time. It was so...freaky. Scary/cute. Why did he like the program so much? Does Teletubbies encourage drug use later in life just to replicate the floaty, surreal feeling one gets while watching? Well, without firsthand experience to prove my point, I'd say Boohbah is like Teletubbies on acid.

I know there are probably scientifically valid reasons kids like these shows, but...whoa, man.

Funny aside:

Luke (5) to Mimi (20 months): We're going to watch those funny guys called Boohbahs now!
Mimi to Luke: Boobies?

Super Nanny!

Right after happening on that parent coach article, I found myself in front of the TV watching Super Nanny (ABC). Could it get any better than this? (The theme song is "Be Good Johnny" by Colin Hay, lead singer of Men At Work...love it.)
