Precious starts with P
My three year-old daughter is enjoying her beginning grasp of phonics. "Mommy starts with M!" she'll tell me, eyes bright, like she just unlocked the key to a secret code.
Today I was telling her about what I consider to be some of her best qualities...her love of animals, for example. Her reply: "Mommy! 'Quality' starts with 'koala'!"

Brilliant AND creative, as I knew she would be. How awesome. And here I am excited that Thalia now pronounces the "ple" in "Apple!"

You are so lucky your daughter has taken an interest in phonics. My son never had any interest in phonics and I did not push it. He began taking an interest as a kindergartner but his school uses the Whole Language curriculum. This does not emphasize phonics and it left him lost. I have just started a blog on how I taught him to read. Once I researched and learned how to do so it was fun and easy. My recommendation to all parents whose kids express an interest in phonics like your daughter did is run with it and enjoy watching your child become a reader and support your child as much as you can at home (it's fun and also because that's what other parents are doing!) If you'd like to see my blog go to www.goodcityliving, click on What Preschool parents needs to know (the site is still under construction so the exact wording of that may change) and take a look at How to teach your child to read. The website is brand new and not yet officially launched but when I was your post I just had to comment and share my hard won advice!

I was informed by 3-year-old Josie that 'crack' and 'cracker' are 'the same'! :-)
I too am enjoying the phonics game.
